TSA Pre✓™ debuts at Flint's Bishop International Airport

Local Press Release
Thursday, September 4, 2014

FLINT, Mich. — The Transportation Security Administration has expanded its popular TSA Pre✓™ program to Bishop International Airport (FNT). Passengers traveling on American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines may now receive expedited screening benefits at the TSA security checkpoint.

"We are proud to now provide TSA Pre✓™ screening to passengers traveling through Flint's Bishop International Airport," said Steve Lorincz, TSA federal security director for Flint. "The expansion of TSA Pre✓™ to Flint is a great accomplishment and it remains our commitment to provide passengers with the most effect security in the most efficient way possible."

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that allows pre-approved travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select screening lanes.

Passengers who are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ include: U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who are members of the TSA Pre✓™ application program, members of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) trusted traveler program (Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI) and members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Reserves and National Guard. Also, on a flight-by-flight basis, TSA will offer expedited screening benefits to select passengers. This process allows TSA to maintain its high security standards and create greater efficiency while offering more travelers the benefit of expedited screening through TSA Pre✓™ lanes.

Each week, more than five million passengers experience TSA Pre✓™ nationwide since the program was launched in October 2011. TSA Pre✓™ is currently available at 119 airports nationwide. Travelers can check the TSA Pre✓™ participating airports page for information on locations of active TSA Pre✓™ lanes.

If a Bishop International Airport passenger is eligible for expedited screening, a TSA Pre✓™ indicator will be embedded in the barcode of the boarding pass so that when scanned at the checkpoint, the passenger may be referred to a TSA Pre✓™ lane. The four participating airlines at Bishop International Airport will also print a TSA Pre✓™ indicator directly on the boarding pass so passengers will know in advance that they have been cleared for expedited screening.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual is guaranteed expedited screening. TSA's multi-layered approach to security also includes behavior detection officers, explosives-detection systems, canine teams, and federal air marshals, among other measures both seen and unseen.
