TSA Pre✓® enrollment available at Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport

Local Press Release
Monday, January 18, 2016

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that TSA Pre✓® enrollment is available at Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport during the week of January 18 through 22, 2016.

TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. Five airlines that serve BZN – Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Allegiant, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines – participate in TSA Pre✓®.

“TSA Pre✓® is a signature program of the agency and it is designed for low-risk passengers who have enrolled in a Department of Homeland Security Trusted Traveler program,” said Dan Fevold, TSA Federal Security Director for Montana. “Interested travelers can come to BZN this week and go through the enrollment process, making them eligible for expedited security screening on a consistent basis for future trips.”

“I am very excited to have an enrollment center at BZN this week so that local community members can come and enroll in TSA Pre✓®,” said Brian Sprenger, Airport Director at BZN. “Passengers who enroll will be permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane on a consistent basis when departing BZN. In addition, they will be able to experience TSA Pre✓® at airports across the country, making their aviation security experience simpler, quicker and more convenient.”

The enrollment center is located on the upper level of the airport terminal, near the passenger exit lane. It will be available Monday, January 18 to Friday, January 22 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Travelers who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents can begin the process by pre-enrolling online at universalenroll.dhs.gov. Click on the words, “TSA Pre✓®” in the middle of the webpage. Follow the prompts to pre-enroll and set up an appointment to visit the enrollment center at BZN.

More information on the application process is available at tsa.gov/precheck. Please note that applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or their driver license and certified copy of their birth certificate.

Applicants are required to make an in-person visit to the enrollment center to verify citizenship or immigration status, as well as to provide fingerprints. Walk-ins are accepted at the BZN airport enrollment center, but appointments are recommended. There is a nonrefundable application processing fee of $85.

Once approved, passengers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Travelers are encouraged to save their KTN in their frequent flyer profiles with the airlines. Additionally, those who purchase their tickets via a third-party website or travel agency should manually enter their KTN each time they make an airline reservation.

Individuals enrolled in U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trusted Traveler programs (including Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI) are already eligible for TSA Pre✓®. Travelers should use their PASS ID as their KTN.

Nationwide, more than 2 million passengers are screened through airport security checkpoints every day. By enrolling low-risk travelers in TSA Pre✓® and expediting their screening process, security officers are better able to focus their efforts on passengers who present an unknown risk to aviation security.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

Nationwide, 13 airlines participate in TSA Pre✓® including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, OneJet, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet. A passenger must be traveling on a participating airline to receive the expedited screening benefits of TSA Pre✓®.
