TSA Pre✓® enrollment extended at Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport

Enrollment center will operate through Friday, Jan. 29

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that the availability of TSA Pre✓® enrollment at Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) will be extended one week and continue through Friday, January 29, 2016.

TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. Five airlines that serve BZN – Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Allegiant, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines – participate in TSA Pre✓®. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program.

“Over the past two and a half days, we have had more than 335 residents of the Gallatin Valley enroll in TSA Pre✓® at BZN,” said Dan Fevold, TSA Federal Security Director for Montana. “In order to meet the demand for enrollment, we have worked with the airport and made arrangements to keep the center open one additional week so more travelers have the opportunity to enroll.”

“With the extension, you have more time to make an appointment to come to the airport and enroll in TSA Pre✓®,” said Brian Sprenger, Airport Director at BZN. “I enrolled earlier this week and found the process to be simple, straightforward and quick. I encourage anyone who travels by air to consider becoming a Trusted Traveler by enrolling in TSA Pre✓®.”

The enrollment center is located on the upper level of the airport terminal, near the passenger exit lane. It is open weekdays through January 29, 2016, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Travelers who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents can make an appointment and pre-enroll online at universalenroll.dhs.gov. Click on the words, “TSA Pre✓®” in the middle of the webpage. Follow the prompts to pre-enroll and set up an appointment to visit the enrollment center at BZN.

More information on the application process is available at tsa.gov/precheck. Please note that applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or their driver’s license and certified copy of their birth certificate. In addition, prior to applying, applicants should review the list of disqualifying criminal offenses.

Applicants are required to make an in-person visit to the enrollment center to verify citizenship or immigration status, as well as provide fingerprints. Walk-ins are accepted at the BZN airport enrollment center, but appointments are highly recommended. There is a nonrefundable application processing fee of $85.

Once approved, passengers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Travelers are encouraged to save their KTN in their frequent flyer profiles with the airlines. Additionally, those who purchase their tickets via a third-party website or travel agency should manually enter their KTN each time they make an airline reservation.

Individuals enrolled in U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trusted Traveler programs (including Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI) are already eligible for TSA Pre✓®. Travelers should use their PASS ID as their KTN.

Nationwide, more than 2 million passengers are screened through airport security checkpoints every day.  By enrolling low-risk travelers in TSA Pre✓® and expediting their screening process, security officers are better able to focus their efforts on passengers who present an unknown risk to aviation security.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

Nationwide, 13 airlines participate in TSA Pre✓® including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, OneJet, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet. A passenger must be traveling on a participating airline to receive the expedited screening benefits of TSA Pre✓®.
