More than 1,200 local residents enroll as Trusted Travelers
BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Transportation Security Administration announced today that 1,204 people enrolled in TSA Pre✓® at Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) during the two-week period from Jan. 18 to Jan. 29, 2016.
TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. Five airlines that serve BZN – Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Allegiant, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines - participate in TSA Pre✓®. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program.
“We are pleased with the number of residents from the Gallatin Valley who enrolled in TSA Pre✓® while it was available at BZN,” said Dan Fevold, TSA Federal Security Director for Montana. “Those who enrolled should be receiving Known Traveler Numbers (KTN) making them eligible for TSA Pre✓® during their next air travel trip.”
To enroll in TSA Pre✓® at BZN, travelers had to make an in-person visit to the enrollment center. Airport officials and TSA worked together to bring a temporary enrollment center to the airport for the convenience of locals.
People who enrolled and were approved as a Trusted Traveler have begun receiving a Known Traveler Number. They should include the Known Traveler Number on current and future airline reservations.
Nationwide, more than 2 million passengers are screened through airport security checkpoints every day. By enrolling low-risk travelers in TSA Pre✓® and expediting their screening process, security officers are better able to focus their efforts on passengers who present an unknown risk to aviation security.
As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
