SEATTLE – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that travelers interested in applying for TSA Pre✓® can now do so at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

TSA Pre✓® is a trusted traveler program that allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. TSA operates dedicated TSA Pre✓® lanes at SEA.

“TSA is excited that Puget Sound residents have yet another location where they can apply for TSA Pre✓® and trusted traveler status,” said Jeff Holmgren, Federal Security Director for the state of Washington. “The new site at SEA is conveniently located in the airport terminal.”

SEA is one of 46 airports where TSA Pre✓® enrollment is offered. The application site is located near the Alaska Airlines ticketing area, near security checkpoint 4. It is pre-security and no boarding pass is required to visit. Enrollment is available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Travelers who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents can begin the application process online by clicking “Apply Now.” Follow the prompts to set up an appointment at the SEA location. An in-person visit to the application center is required in order to verify citizenship or immigration status and to provide fingerprints.

Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or driver’s license and a certified copy of a birth certificate. There is a nonrefundable application processing fee of $85 and trusted traveler status is good for five years. Walk-ins are accepted, but will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis around scheduled appointments.

At SEA’s security checkpoint 4, TSA operates all lanes as TSA Pre✓® from 4 a.m. to noon. At other security checkpoints, TSA Pre✓® is available throughout the day and evening.

Passengers approved as trusted travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN), making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and younger are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓® eligible parent or guardian.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
