FARGO, N.D. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that local residents of the Fargo-Moorhead area will have the opportunity to enroll for one week in the popular TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program at Hector International Airport (FAR) starting Monday, Oct. 3.

The application center will be located in the Airport Boardroom in the passenger terminal at FAR. It will be open Monday through Friday, October 3 through 7, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. An earlier press release incorrectly stated enrollment would be available for two weeks.

TSA Pre✓® allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. All four airlines that serve FAR – American Airlines, Allegiant, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines – participate in TSA Pre✓®. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program.

“TSA Pre✓® is a signature program of the agency and it is designed for low-risk passengers who have enrolled in a Department of Homeland Security Trusted Traveler program,” said David Durgan, TSA Federal Security Director for North Dakota. “Interested travelers should make an appointment now to enroll in October.”

Appointments can be made online. Click on the words “Apply Now” to make an appointment to complete the enrollment process in-person at the TSA Pre✓® application center at FAR. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver’s license and certified copy of a birth certificate, and fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.

Currently, there are approximately 300 appointment slots available. The greatest number of appointments are available on Tuesday, October 4; Wednesday, October 5; and Thursday, Oct. 6. Walk-ins are accepted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments.

The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓® eligible parent or guardian.

TSA has offered TSA Pre✓® at FAR since November 2014. TSA Pre✓® screening is offered at airports in every state across the country with 18 participating airlines. See a full list of locations and airlines here.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
