TSA partners with Frontier Airlines to offer TSA Pre✓®

National Press Release
Thursday, September 29, 2016

WASHINGTON — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the expansion of TSA Pre✓® to include eligible customers of Frontier Airlines effective immediately.

TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that enables trusted travelers to enjoy a smart and efficient screening experience at more than 180 U.S. airports. For TSA Pre✓® travelers, there is no need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets. In August 2016, 97 percent of TSA Pre✓® passengers experienced wait times of five minutes or less.

“Working in partnership with airlines like Frontier enables our officers to provide travelers a better screening experience without compromising security,” said TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger. “TSA is working closely with the aviation community to improve the traveling experience and one way is by offering expedited screening for trusted travelers at airport security checkpoints.”

Today’s announcement makes a total of 19 carriers that participate in TSA Pre✓®: Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, American Airlines, Cape Air, Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Lufthansa, OneJet, Seaborne Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet.

Travelers flying on Frontier Airlines will now have the opportunity to receive TSA Pre✓® when using a home-printed boarding pass, mobile boarding pass and boarding pass printed at the airport check-in desk or kiosk. If a Frontier Airlines passenger is eligible for expedited screening, a TSA Pre✓® indicator will be printed on the boarding pass, which provides access to expedited screening lanes.

Travelers can apply for TSA Pre✓® for a cost of $85 for five years, an average of $17 per year. Other passengers who are eligible for TSA Pre✓® include members of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler programs, such as Global Entry and NEXUS for Canadian citizens. TSA Pre✓® is also available for U.S. Armed Forces service members, including those serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Reserves and National Guard.

As always, TSA incorporates unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
