Acting Administrator Melvin Carraway testifying

TSA Acting Administrator Melvin J. Carraway testified in two hearings this week discussing the FY 2016 budget for the agency. He first testified on March 17, before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety and, Security and testified again today, before the House Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Homeland Security.

During the hearings, Carraway discussed the President’s fiscal year 2016 budget request for the agency. He described TSA as a high-performing counterterrorism organization that applies a multi-layered, intelligence-driven, risk-based security approach to protect the nation’s transportation systems. To support this mission, the FY 2016 budget request covers three main priorities: advancing risk-based security, enhancing workforce engagement and improving organizational efficiency.
