Executive Liaison Officer Deborah Kent speaking at Connect:ID conference

TSA Executive Liaison Officer Deborah Kent served as a panel speaker at the Connect:ID conference and exhibition, March 24 in Washington, D.C.

Kent participated on a panel titled “Enabling DHS missions through biometrics,” along with other Department of Homeland Security employees, including representatives from Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Kent discussed how biometrics initiatives could be employed by TSA to streamline the airport security screening process. “We are proactively working to adopt more of a risk-based screening methodology, which would include the expanded use of biometrics for the purpose of identity verification and validation,” said Kent. She also represents the recently created Joint Requirements Council within TSA, which works to “leverage shared capability both operationally and technically and facilitate information sharing within the Department.”

Connect:ID is a three-day conference that brings together the leading experts in both government and industry to discuss cyber security and the role of identity in the 21st century. The various panels and exhibitors explored the challenges and opportunities presented by biometric technologies.
