TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger testified before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in a hearing titled, “Frustrated Travelers: Rethinking TSA Operations to Improve Passenger Screening and Address Threats to Aviation” Tuesday, June 7.

During the hearing, Neffenger discussed the measures TSA has taken to improve security while continuing to move passengers through checkpoints at an efficient rate. He explained that TSA has undertaken a systematic transformation to focus on security effectiveness and shift resources to meet demand.

These measures are necessary to minimize wait times as passenger volumes continue to grow. As Neffenger stated, “passenger volume will remain high throughout the summer and we will need to continue to manage resources aggressively.”
