Joseph Salvator
Joseph Salvator serves as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Operations Management, Security Operations. In this role, he provides strategic and tactical leadership, direction, management, and support to Security Operations, domestic and international operations, in the areas of budget and financial management, organization performance metrics, procedural development and oversight, emergency preparedness, operational resources, and human resource management.
Previous to this assignment, Mr. Salvator held key executive positions in TSA’s Offices of Intelligence, Security Operations, and Investigations and Inspections. Prior to beginning his civilian service career, Mr. Salvator was as an Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. In April 2002, he joined the Department of Transportation later joining the Department of Homeland Security as an Intelligence Operations Specialist. Mr. Salvator was a key contributor to forming the government’s response to the August 2006 U.S./U.K. aviation liquid plot and the establishment of two of the government’s watch lists: “No Fly” and “Selectee.” In 2006, he served as TSA’s Deputy Federal Security Director for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, which won Airport of the Year in 2007. In 2008, Mr. Salvator was selected for a Senior Executive position in the FBI Headquarters, serving as the principal intelligence executive to the Assistant Director for Counterterrorism. He was the FBI’s lead for interagency coordination of intelligence products and prepared counterterrorism intelligence products for the President of the United States, U.S. Attorney General, Director of the FBI, and other senior level government officials on the national security team.
Mr. Salvator and his family currently reside in the Annapolis, MD area.
