Tirrell D. Stevenson

Tirrell Stevenson is the Executive Assistant Administrator/Director for the Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator/Deputy Director for the Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS), where he provided executive leadership and the strategic vision to oversee the critical law enforcement and homeland security services for TSA.
In addition, he previously served as the Acting Chief of Staff for LE/FAMS, Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) for the Office of the Director of LE/FAMS, and Regional SAC for Field Operations. He has served in multiple field assignments including SAC of the Atlanta Field Office, Assistant SAC of the Detroit Field Office, Assistant Federal Security Director of Law Enforcement for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and Supervisory Federal Air Marshal for the Dallas Field Office.
In 2011, Stevenson served as Operational Lead for all TSA security functions during Super Bowl XLV activities held within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Additionally, while assigned to the Dallas Field Office, Stevenson led and managed the LE/FAMS Joint Terrorism Task Force representatives assigned to the Dallas, Little Rock, and Oklahoma City FBI Field Offices.
Stevenson’s tenure with LE/FAMS also includes a headquarters assignment as a Regional Coordinator for all Tactical Information Sharing Systems training conducted in the nation’s Midwest and Southern regions. Stevenson began his career with LE/FAMS in 2002 at the Detroit Field Office, where he was tasked with flying both international and domestic missions designed to detect, deter, and defeat hostile acts targeting the U.S. aviation domain.
Prior to joining the Federal Air Marshal Service, Stevenson spent over 14 years in law enforcement, including tenures with the Newport News Police Department and York County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia. He has held line and supervisory assignments in patrol operations and investigations, and performed specialized duties in narcotics enforcement, homicide investigation, crimes against juveniles, and tactical response.
In addition to civilian law enforcement experience, Stevenson served over seven years in the U.S. Air Force. He served on active duty as a Security Police Law Enforcement Specialist, completing assignments as a Patrolman, Desk Sergeant, and Security Police Investigator detailed to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
Stevenson holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force. He has completed various TSA developmental courses including the Key Executive Program by American University and the TSA Senior Leadership Development Program, during which he was detailed as the Deputy Federal Security Director for Dallas Love Field.
