BISMARCK, N.D. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that travelers will have the opportunity to enroll in its popular TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program at Bismarck Airport later this month.

The enrollment center will be located in the conference room above baggage claim in the airport main terminal starting Monday, August 26 through Friday, August 30. It will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Friday, it will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“TSA Pre✓® is a popular program among travelers around the country, and we’re pleased to offer Bismarck passengers the opportunity to enroll right here at the airport,” said David Durgan, TSA federal security director for North Dakota. “We urge those who are interested to start the process online and then make an appointment to come to the airport to complete their application during this enrollment period.” Walk-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis.

Travelers who are enrolled in TSA Pre✓® or another trusted traveler program such as Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS are permitted to keep their shoes, belts and light outerwear jackets on, and can leave their laptops and liquid 3-1-1 bags inside their carry-on when processing through an airport security checkpoint. “Word has spread among Bismarck travelers about the benefits of TSA Pre✓®, so, we are excited to have an enrollment center back at the airport next week,” said Bismarck Airport Director Greg Haug. “The first event went over very well with regional travelers.”

The process to enroll begins online at tsa.gov/precheck. Click on the words “Apply Now” to make an appointment to complete the enrollment process in-person at the Bismarck on-airport TSA Pre✓® application center. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and certified copy of a birth certificate and fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.

The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Walk-ins are permitted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments. Individuals are asked to park in short term parking and bring their parking ticket with them for validation by the airport.

Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓®- eligible parent or guardian.

Seventy-three domestic and international airlines participate in TSA Pre✓®, and travelers departing a U.S. airport flying on any of those airlines are eligible for expedited screening. As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
