JANESVILLE - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will open a temporary TSA Pre✓® enrollment center at Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport (JVL) from Monday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 4, 2019.
The application center will be located in the Voyager Conference Room at the airport. Although walk-ins will be accepted, TSA and the airport recommend that individuals pre-enroll on-line and make an appointment at www.Identogo.com/precheck. The hours will be Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins will be taken on first come, first served basis after those who have an appointment.
“This is a great opportunity for travelers in the Janesville community to enroll in our popular TSA Pre✓® program,” said TSA Wisconsin Federal Security Director Mark Lendvay. “The closest permanent enrollment center is in Rockford, Il, so we urge those who are interested to take advantage of this weeklong event right here in your community.”
TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that allows members to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt in designated screening lanes. Members also may keep their laptop in its case and
3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels baggies in a carry-on bag.
“We are looking forward to hosting this unique opportunity at our airport,” said JVL Airport Director Greg Cullen. “The event will give local people a chance to register for the TSA Pre✓® program without driving too far. And, it should also give those folks a better traveling experience with whatever airport they choose in the future.”
Travelers who are enrolled in TSA Pre✓® or another trusted traveler program such as Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS are permitted to keep their shoes, belts and light outerwear jackets on, and can leave their laptops and liquid 3-1-1 bags inside their carry-on when processing through an airport security checkpoint. The application fee is $85, which covers a five-year membership. The fee must be paid at the application center by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Enrollees will need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship or legal residency status. Documentation requirements are listed on the DHS trusted traveler comparison tool site. Fingerprints are collected to complete a background check.
Successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which they can access online in about a week. Passengers should enter the KTN when booking airline reservations online via a participating airline website, via phone call to the airline reservation center, or with the travel management company making reservations.
