SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that residents of the Sioux Falls area can make an appointment now to enroll in TSA PreCheck® at Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 13.
The enrollment center will be open from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be located in the main floor conference room of the airport passenger terminal. The airport is located at 2801 N. Jaycee Lane in Sioux Falls. Social distancing and additional cleaning measures will be in place in and around the enrollment area.
At airports across the country, travelers eligible for TSA PreCheck screening can leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt when going through the security checkpoint. In addition, travelers do not need to remove their laptops, electronics larger than a cell phone or travel-size liquids from their carry-on luggage further streamlining the security screening process.
“Because TSA PreCheck-eligible travelers do not need to remove items from their carry-on luggage, there is a reduced potential for cross-contamination in the security checkpoint. This is key during the spread of the coronavirus,” said TSA Federal Security Director for South Dakota. “Put your mind at ease and plan to “Stay Healthy. Stay Secure.” when traveling. Make an appointment to enroll in TSA PreCheck at FSD.”
An in-person visit to the enrollment center is required to complete the application process. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and a certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during enrollment.
While walk-ins are accepted, people are strongly encouraged to begin the enrollment process online and make an appointment for the in-person visit. Start by visiting www.tsa.gov/precheck and select “Apply Now.” Follow the online prompts, enter the requested information and select “Sioux Falls, SD” as the enrollment location.
The enrollment fee is $85, which covers a five-year period. The fee must be paid at the time of enrollment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check.
To date, more than 10.5 million people have enrolled in TSA PreCheck. In September 2020, on average, 99% of travelers eligible for TSA PreCheck waited five minutes or less to be screened through security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Another benefit of the program is that children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA PreCheck lane when traveling with an eligible parent or guardian on the same itinerary.
Seventy-three airlines, including domestic and international carriers, participate in TSA PreCheck, giving travelers even more options and reasons to enroll in the program. All airlines serving FSD participate in TSA PreCheck.
