MINNEAPOLIS - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has immediate openings for Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to work at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). There are 35 full- and 10 part-time positions currently available at MSP. Starting salary is $19.52 per hour.

As an incentive, TSA will pay a $1,000 recruitment incentive for all newly-hired TSOs at MSP and a 5 percent salary increase upon completion of training within six months. To qualify for the recruitment incentive, the employee must come onboard with TSA between now and June 30, 2021.

“Transportation Security Officers represent the critical first line in securing freedom of movement for people and goods throughout our nation,” said Federal Security Director for Minnesota Martin Robinson. “We are interested in those who want to join a team that serves a mission greater than self and offers potential for career growth.”

The two-day recruitment event is taking place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 at the Marriott Minneapolis Airport, located at 2020 American Blvd. East in Bloomington. No appointment is necessary. Parking is free. Check in will take place in the grand foyer.

Based on anticipated seasonal travel trends in the months ahead and the progress of COVID-19 vaccinations for the general public, TSA has launched national efforts to recruit new employees in support of screening operations at airports nationwide. In addition to targeted recruitment and outreach, TSA has supplemented its efforts with paid media campaigns in the Twin Cities area to reach individuals seeking part-time and full-time job opportunities.

TSOs at MSP are federal employees. Benefits include paid training, annual and sick leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees and a generous retirement plan. TSA does not prorate benefits for part-time workers, and veteran’s preference is not required to join the agency.

After six months, TSOs are eligible for pay increases and those who work early mornings, evenings and Sundays receive a shift differential. Overtime opportunities, which are paid at time and a half, are frequently available.

TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply.
