DENVER - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hiring Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to work at Denver International Airport (DEN). There are currently full- and part-time positions available and the starting salary is $24.23 per hour.

As an incentive, TSA will pay newly-hired TSOs $2,500 upon starting with the agency and $2,500 after one year of service with TSA. Applicants must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen or national.

“Over the past few months, TSA has successfully hired additional TSOs work at DEN, but we have the capacity and need to hire more. That is why we continue to host recruitment sessions to expand our security team locally,” said TSA Federal Security Director for Colorado Larry Nau. “A career in the federal government provides steady employment and the opportunity for growth and promotion. Consider joining our established team of security professionals at one of the country’s fastest growing and top airports.”

TSA will host an in-person recruitment session for interested individuals on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The session will be held at the TSA Administrative Offices located at 3855 Lewiston Street in Aurora, Colo. Free parking is available on-site.

At the recruitment session, interested candidates will attend an information session to learn more about applying to become a TSO, take a computer-based test to evaluate aptitude and English language proficiency and participate in a structured interview session. Applicants will also need to complete a medical evaluation, federal drug screening and pre-hire background investigation soon after the event.

TSOs at DEN are federal employees. Benefits include paid training, annual and sick leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees and a generous 401k retirement plan. TSOs are also eligible for up to $5,000 per year in college tuition reimbursement. TSA does not prorate benefits for part-time workers, and veteran’s preference is not required to join the agency.

After six months, TSOs are eligible for pay increases and those who work early mornings, evenings and Sundays receive a shift differential. Overtime opportunities, which are paid at time and a half, are frequently available.

TSA officers screen hundreds of airline travelers daily, ensuring that they arrive at their destinations safely and securely. Applicants do not need previous experience working in security or law enforcement fields. Newly-hired TSOs will attend two-weeks of standardized training with other recently hired TSOs from around the country as well as receive ongoing on-the-job training.

The session and preliminary hiring process components can take between three and five hours, so TSA recommends arriving early in the day. Candidates are required to bring two valid forms of state or federal identification. They should also bring a smartphone and/or passwords to be able to access their email account and their USAJobs.gov account.

For those who are unable to attend the hiring event on November 8, TSA is hosting another hiring event on Saturday, November 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session will be held at the TSA Administrative Offices located at 3855 Lewiston Street in Aurora, Colo. Free parking is available on-site.

TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply.
