“This year’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game has generated so much enthusiasm and excitement in the Puget Sound region. With all of the activities, we are expecting an increase in the number of travelers who will be departing SEA later this week,” said TSA Federal Security Director for Washington Greg Hawko. “TSA will be fully staffed to ensure security operations go smoothly and efficiently for all travelers, but we are also counting on everyone - All Star fans or not - to arrive early and prepared for the security screening process.”

Delays at the security checkpoint are often caused by travelers running afoul of the rules and bringing prohibited items in carry-ons. Please remember that all types of bats including mini-bats - a favorite souvenir of fans everywhere - are prohibited in carry-on luggage. Bats of any size should be transported in checked baggage only.

To avoid getting caught in a pickle, travelers can use any of TSA’s available travel tip resources. Download the MyTSA app and use the “Can I Bring?” feature to find out if an item can travel in carry-on luggage or should be checked. By following this tip, both American League and National League fans can avoid a bag check. Another option is to contact @AskTSA on Twitter or Facebook Messenger to get real-time answers to your travel questions. Travelers can also text “Travel” to AskTSA (275-872).

Travelers will hit a grand slam with TSA officers if they follow the rules on traveling with liquids in carry-on luggage. Any liquid - including Gatorade leftover from the time-honored, postgame victory shower - must be in quantities of 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less and fit in a single, quart-size plastic bag. Liquids greater than 3.4 ounces should be placed in checked luggage. Foods such as popcorn, ‘peanuts and Cracker Jacks’ are allowed in unlimited quantities in carry-on or checked luggage.

To increase your batting average, “Travel with Ease” through the TSA PreCheck® lane. Eligible travelers do not need to remove shoes, belts, light outerwear, laptops, electronics larger than a cell phone or travel-size liquids from carry-on luggage. After reviewing the All-Star game box score, travelers can check their boarding passes for the words TSA PreCheck. All travelers 17 and under can accompany a TSA PreCheck-eligible parent or guardian on the same itinerary through the TSA PreCheck lane.

If an item is inadvertently left behind at the security checkpoint, travelers have not struck out. Call Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s Lost and Found office at (206) 787-5312 or file a claim online. The office is open daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
