SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hiring officers to work at Syracuse Hancock International Airport and will be conducting an application assistance event at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 6646 Old Collamer Road South, in East Syracuse on Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
There are currently openings for both full- and part-time positions as TSA officers with a starting hourly rate of $19.65. There is currently a sign-on bonus of up to $1,000, which includes $500 after onboarding and $500 after one year of service.
Applicants will be able to sit in on an information session, start the interview process and have their fingerprints taken as part of the necessary background check. Interested individuals may schedule an appointment online, Syracuse TSO Recruiting Event (indeed.com), although walk-ins are welcome.
Applicants do not need previous experience working in security or law enforcement fields. New hires will receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and they are paid while undergoing training.
TSA officers screen thousands of airline travelers daily, ensuring they arrive at their destinations safely. TSA expects to screen a greater volume of travelers regularly this summer and needs additional officers to support its security mission.
