TSA statement on second COVID-19 case at EWR Airport

Statement
Friday, March 20, 2020

"TSA confirms that a second Transportation Security Officer who works at Newark Liberty International Airport has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The officer is resting at home where they are quarantined. The officer works in a TSA training room, not in a public location. TSA employees who work the same shift and may have come in contact with the officer who tested positive during the past 14 days have been alerted about the situation so that they can take action as appropriate.”

“Security screening checkpoints remain open and the agency is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New Jersey Department of Health to monitor the situation as well as the health and safety of our employees and the traveling public.”
