The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mourns the passing of another member of the TSA family. Tampa International Airport Expert Transportation Security Officer Nicholas Haas passed away on September 7, 2021, after contracting COVID-19.

Haas transferred to Tampa in May 2015 from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, where he proudly served TSA for 10 years. Early in his TSA career, he became a Behavior Detection Officer and later became an instructor within the program. He was a valued member of TSA’s Tampa ATLAS team, extremely knowledgeable, and always willing to help others. Haas was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending his afternoons at baseball practice with his two young sons.

TSA continues to urge all employees to get vaccinated and follow CDC guidance, including face mask recommendations. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Haas’s family, friends and coworkers.
